Explore the questionsPeptides, explained
Understand the building blocks of peptide skincare.
What are peptides in skincare?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids. Different peptides have different structures and roles, so the word “peptide” describes a family of ingredients rather than one single benefit.
How are peptides different from amino acids?
Amino acids are individual building blocks. When amino acids join together, they form peptides; longer chains can form proteins. A peptide complex may have an amino-acid profile without containing those amino acids as 18 separately added free ingredients.
Why do skincare brands use peptides?
Peptides are used in cosmetic formulas for their potential skin-conditioning benefits. What a particular peptide can do depends on its identity, concentration, stability and the finished formula—not just its presence on an ingredient list.
Are all peptides the same?
No. Peptides differ in their amino-acid sequence and chemistry. Two products both described as “peptide skincare” can contain very different ingredients and deliver different experiences.
Can peptides help with the appearance of fine lines?
Some specific peptides have evidence for improving the appearance of fine lines or skin texture under particular conditions. That does not mean every peptide cream has the same evidence or will produce the same result.
Do peptides actually penetrate the skin?
Skin is an effective barrier, and penetration varies by molecule and formulation. Some peptide ingredients are designed for topical use, but it is not accurate to assume that every peptide reaches deeper skin layers.
Can peptides replace collagen?
No. Peptides in a cream are not the same thing as adding new collagen to the skin. Certain studied peptides may influence the appearance of skin, but a cosmetic product should not be described as replacing lost collagen.
Is a higher number of peptides always better?
Not necessarily. Ingredient selection, useful concentrations, compatibility, stability and the cream base all matter. A long list of peptides is not, by itself, proof of a stronger formula.
Can peptides be used with niacinamide or ceramides?
They can often be used together in a well-designed formula. The important question is whether the particular ingredients are compatible and stable in the finished product.
Are peptides suitable for everyday skincare?
Many peptide-based cosmetic products are intended for routine use. Follow the product directions, consider your individual skin tolerance and check the ingredients if you have known sensitivities.
Why we formulate the way we do
A clear purpose behind every Peptiqe formula.
What does “Rooted in care. Driven by science.” mean?
Care shapes the skin concerns we choose to address. Science guides how we select ingredients, develop formulations and assess the finished products. Both matter to the way Peptiqe is built.
Why does Peptiqe focus on peptides?
Peptides are versatile formulation ingredients with interesting cosmetic applications. We use them as part of considered formulas—not as a shortcut or as a claim that one ingredient can do everything.
What does “engineered skincare” mean?
It means looking beyond a hero ingredient: selecting the supporting ingredients, balancing the texture, considering product stability and designing a cream that feels good to use consistently.
Why not put every trending active in one cream?
More ingredients do not automatically mean better skincare. Every addition has to make sense for the product’s purpose, compatibility, stability and skin feel.
What is the difference between PRC-5 and PAC-7?
PRC-5 is our Peptide Skin Barrier Cream, designed for everyday moisturising and skin-barrier care. PAC-7 is our Peptide Anti-Chafe Cream, created to help reduce friction and improve comfort where skin or clothing rubs.
Where are Peptiqe products formulated?
Peptiqe products are formulated in the United Kingdom. Our products are developed with safety assessment and relevant product testing as part of bringing them to market.
Does Peptiqe test products before selling them?
Cosmetic products undergo a safety assessment before being placed on the UK market. Relevant stability and microbiological testing help assess how a finished formula performs and remains suitable for use.
Is Peptiqe suitable for every skin type?
Skin is individual, so no cream is guaranteed to suit everyone. Review the full ingredients, follow the directions and test cautiously if your skin is particularly reactive.
Skin-barrier science, made simple
The thinking behind moisture, comfort and the finished formula.
What is the skin barrier?
The outermost layer of skin helps limit water loss and protect against external irritants. Its condition affects how dry, tight or comfortable skin can feel.
What are ceramides?
Ceramides are lipids naturally present in the skin barrier. They help form part of the structure that limits water loss. Ceramide NP is one ceramide type used in cosmetic skincare.
What does niacinamide do in skincare?
Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 used in skincare to support the appearance and condition of skin. Its effect depends on the concentration, formula and individual response.
Why are emollients important in a cream?
Emollients help smooth and soften the skin’s surface. They are a major part of how moisturisers feel and why skin can feel more comfortable after application.
What is the difference between humectants, emollients and occlusives?
Humectants help attract and hold water, emollients soften and smooth, and occlusives help reduce moisture loss. A balanced moisturiser can combine all three functions.
Why does a cream need preservatives?
Water-containing cosmetic products can support microbial growth if they are not adequately protected. A suitable preservation system helps keep the product safe and usable during its intended life.
Does pH matter in skincare?
Yes. pH can affect skin comfort and how certain ingredients or preservative systems work. Formulators consider pH as part of the complete product rather than as a standalone quality score.
Does expensive skincare always work better?
No. Price alone cannot establish performance. Ingredient choice, formulation quality, testing, suitability for your skin and whether you enjoy using the product are more meaningful considerations.
What does stability testing tell you?
It helps assess whether a product maintains appropriate appearance, consistency and other characteristics under tested conditions. It is one part of product development, not a guarantee that every possible storage condition is covered.
Making sense of moisturisers
Practical answers for everyday use.
What is the difference between a cream, lotion and serum?
Creams tend to have richer textures, lotions are usually lighter and more fluid, and serums often have a lighter feel or focus on selected ingredients. The naming alone does not determine how effective a product will be.
When should I apply moisturiser?
Most people apply moisturiser after cleansing, often morning and evening. Applying it while skin is slightly damp can be comfortable for some routines; follow the instructions on your product.
How much cream should I use?
Use enough for a thin, even layer over the intended area without excessive rubbing. Adjust for the size of the area and how your skin feels.
Can I layer a peptide cream with other skincare?
Often, yes. Introduce new products gradually and watch how your skin responds. Avoid layering too many potentially irritating treatments at once, particularly if your skin is sensitive.
Do I still need sunscreen if I use a peptide moisturiser?
Yes. A moisturiser without a labelled SPF is not a replacement for sunscreen. For daytime UV protection, use a suitable broad-spectrum sunscreen according to its directions.
Can a moisturiser repair damaged skin overnight?
Moisturisers can make dry skin feel more comfortable and help reduce moisture loss, but the time needed for skin to recover varies. A cosmetic cream is not a treatment for wounds, infections or skin disease.
What should I do if a product stings or irritates my skin?
Stop using it and gently rinse the area if appropriate. If irritation continues or is significant, seek advice from a healthcare professional. You can also contact our team about the product.
Is “natural” always better for sensitive skin?
Not necessarily. Natural and synthetic ingredients can both be useful, and either can cause sensitivity. The entire formula and your individual skin response matter more than the label.
How should I store my skincare?
Keep products closed, away from excessive heat and direct sunlight unless the packaging says otherwise. Follow any storage directions and the period-after-opening symbol on the pack.
Can I use a body cream on my face?
Some creams are formulated for both, while others are intended for specific areas. Use products as directed and consider your skin’s needs, especially around the eyes.

Help before and after your order.
Where can I see the complete ingredient list?
Each Peptiqe product page includes an expandable Full Ingredients section. You can also check the ingredient declaration on the product packaging.
Does PRC-5 contain 18 separately added amino acids?
PRC-5 features a peptide complex associated with an 18-amino-acid profile; that is not the same as claiming 18 individual free amino acids were added separately. Consult the full ingredient list for the ingredients declared in the finished cream.
What is PAC-7 designed for?
PAC-7 is an anti-chafe cream designed to help skin glide more comfortably in friction-prone areas, such as during movement or exercise. Apply only as directed and avoid using it on broken skin unless the product instructions say otherwise.
Do you deliver throughout the UK?
Yes. Peptiqe offers free standard delivery across the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Can I return a skincare product?
Eligible change-of-mind returns should be unopened and unused with any hygiene seal intact. If you have opened or used the product and would like a refund, contact Customer Care so we can review your request. Your statutory rights for faulty products are unaffected.
